25 years of helping others

Share

Jenny’s Place volunteer Wendy Kingston has been giving up her time to help others for more than 25 years.

Wendy is one of our ‘awesome foursome’ volunteers, who help to keep our donations program running smoothly. She met Donna George, our Community Relations Coordinator, at Camp Quality where they both volunteered. The two became close friends as they faced the challenges of acting as Camp companions to children suffering from cancer and their siblings.

“Donna inspires you to want to get involved,” Wendy says, of her decision to volunteer at Jenny’s Place. “Luckily I have never experienced domestic violence personally. But I’m glad that these services are there for those that need them.”

When Wendy commits to something, she is in for the long haul. She worked as an administrative assistant at Maitland Hospital for more than 30 years before retiring in 2021!

Maitland is Wendy’s lifelong home but she loves to travel. Starting with a Kon Tiki tour of Europe when she was in her 20s, she has holidayed around the globe, including celebrating her 60th birthday touring Germany.

“I’ve learned a lot from travelling, especially how lucky we are to live in Australia.”

When she’s not hard at work sorting donations at Jenny’s Place, Wendy loves reading, swimming and catching up with friends. Thanks Wendy for all your support.
