Women's Domestic Violence & Homeless Services

Tenancy Support Program – assistance to retain housing

Jenny's Place supports women whose tenancies may be at risk, including those who have received notices of eviction or are having problems paying rent.

We accept self-referrals from women, as well as referrals from government and non-government agencies, public and social housing providers and real estate agencies.

Referrals are taken via the Jenny’s Place intake line between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The Jenny’s Place Tenancy Support Program provides intervention and support to retain rental properties such as:

  • Exploring options and ideas with you.

  • Talking to property managers on your behalf.

  • Providing a safe and supported environment for women to meet with staff to explore options and ideas.

  • Providing information and advice on resources available.

  • Providing support and assistance to develop a support plan to resolve tenancy problems such as rent arrears, managing finances, property damage, safety issues, yard maintenance, hoarding and squalor.

  • Providing support and assistance to identify, highlight and build on existing strengths.

  • Providing advocacy and fact finding.

  • Negotiating on your behalf with relevant stakeholders.

  • Providing education and skill building in areas such as budgeting, planning and communication.

  • Assistance to access resources and/or other services required.

  • Providing ongoing support, if required.

Jenny's Place also provides opportunities for you to build knowledge and skills.
